The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled “Codes and Regulations for Buildings of the Future” on Tuesday, June 23, from noon to 1:00 p.m. This webinar is the first in a series of panel discussions on the future of the built environment, and attendees are encouraged to join panelists in discussing the future of energy codes and regulatory reforms. Guest speakers Steven Nadel (Executive Director, American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy), Duane Jonlin (Energy Code and Energy Conservation Advisor, City of Seattle, Department of Planning & Development), and Michael Rosenberg (Senior Scientist, PNNL) will discuss what energy codes might be like in the distant future and how codes may drive future building safety, efficiency and sustainability. They will also share their views on zero-net-energy buildings, future retrofits codes, restructuring codes in order to provide more flexibility, and policy platforms that address fresh-air rights, solar rights and connected neighborhoods.
