Beyond Meat, which opened a food processing facility in November 2012 in Columbia, received a rave review from Food Network chef Alton Brown in Wired. The soy-based chicken substitute was developed by MU researchers and is licensed to the owners. Beyond Meat, named one of 10 CNN 2013 “Startups to Watch,” currently employs about 15 employees. Beyond Meat is a client of Jim Gann at the Missouri Small Business & Technology Development Centers.
